A Little Bit About Me…
Hey there! I’m Victoria Wilson and I’m an interior designer. I’ve built up my business, Calypso Design Studio, as a way to do what I love.
One of my biggest joys is helping clients who want that new dream home but don’t know where to start. Or those clients who already have a home but need to renovate to make it become their dream home. I can help develop a plan for either your new construction or renovation from start to finish. By using a combination of 2d floor plans and drawings along side 3d computer models, I’ll help you create a complete design all the way into construction documents.
I also want to help the average, everyday person looking to redecorate their homes. I enjoy helping them create a design that they will be happy to invite their friends over to see. The goal is to help translate my client’s Pinterest pins into an affordable reality through combining what they already have with new pieces.
And for all those students and other designers out there that want to bring the 3d experience into their projects but need more training, I’m here to help. I love to share what I’ve learned through my years of education and experience. Over the years I’ve held private tutoring sessions and group training courses. I’m currently working on a series of e-books and video tutorials that hopefully will be ready to share later this year.
Growing up I was always sketching out new furniture layouts for rooms in my home. Always rearranging furniture when I could. When I realized I could actually go to school to study interior design, I threw out all those other possible careers on my list. You know the usual – marine biologist, paleontologist, free spirited artist.
With the encouragement of a couple great teachers and my supportive family, I was able to study interior design at O’More College in Franklin, TN. There I studied under some truly great instructors. There’s even a couple that to this day I would not hesitate to go to for advice if I felt the need. O’More was fun, eye-opening, and challenging.
It was there that my nerdy self fell in love with drafting in CAD and modeling in CAD (before there was SketchUp or Revit) and then discovering SketchUp my senior year. It was also there that I discovered a great designer by the name of Dee Bynum of Bynum Design and D.Luxe Home in Nashville. I did my internship with him my junior year. As a former student of O’More College he looked there for an intern and I’m so glad he did. From working with Dee, I’ve truly learned what it means to do what you love. We’ve worked on so many great projects over the years. I’ve been with Dee from his working in his home office to moving the office into Marathon Village and setting up D.Luxe Home and then moving into our larger space. there.
For more than 13 years I’ve been fully immersed in the interior design field. It brings such joy to my life. There’s nothing quite like seeing a home go from sketched out ideas – to floor plans – to 3d computer models – to construction documents – and then into construction through to completion. Over the years I’ve studied with great designers and professors. Worked on great projects with other designers as well as projects for my own clients. Taught students through private torturing sessions. Worked on both interior decorating projects as well as full home design projects. I even had the privilege to teach a summer course at O’More College last year. I’m excited to see what the future holds.
Now What...
